Today in the port of Kuryk, the first sea-based aquaculture cages were launched into the Caspian Sea — marking the start of Central Asia’s first marine aquaculture project by Organic Fish with the support of the Mangystau Regional Administration.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Mangystau Administration – Mr. Nurdaulet Kilybay, the Chairman of the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture – Mr. Serik Sermagambetov, as well as friends and partners of Organic Fish.
The Norwegian-made cages, each 120 meters in circumference and 25 meters deep, were installed 20 km south of the port — the largest ever in Kazakhstan and the Caspian.
At the first stage, production will reach 300–1,600 tons of fish per year, with plans to grow to 5,000 tons and create over 80 new jobs.
The Governor emphasized that the project has historic significance for Kazakhstan, opening a new chapter in aquaculture and becoming a driver for regional growth in agriculture sector.
