In the Caspian Sea, Kazakhstan’s first-ever marine aquaculture project continues to develop. In November–December 2025, Organic Fish released the first batch of salmon smolts (~200 g) into offshore sea cages.
Today, the fish have successfully adapted to open-sea conditions, reaching an average weight of 300–350 g, with a total biomass exceeding 20 tons.
The video shows salmon freely developing in sea cages located 20 km south of the Port of Kuryk. Natural water exchange, marine currents, and temperature conditions closely replicate the species’ natural habitat.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Mangystau Region Akimat, the Fisheries Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and JSC “Caspian” SPC.
The marine aquaculture model is based on international technologies, Norwegian standards, and principles of responsible environmental management.
